Preliminary Reflections on the Ethics of Disasters
Air Date:3/5/2007
Air Time:3:00 PM EST
Length:1 Hour 32 Minutes 28 Seconds
Description:Bioethicists and health care ethicists have recently begun to consider the moral implications of disasters. Building on a distinction between ethics of disaster preparedness and ethics in disasters, this lecture primarily addresses the former, considering how disasters generally might be understood in moral terms and in what senses they may be “bad,” or not, and for whom. It will conclude by considering some implications of these reflections that will merit further research and should stimulate discussion.
